The Damage Waiver is an optional daily fee ($12.00 / day) that reduces your liability for accidental damage to the hired machine during normal operation. It is not an insurance policy — it is a waiver of a portion of the repair cost you would otherwise be liable for.
1. What the Waiver Covers
Accidental damage that occurs during normal, correct operation of the machine within its rated capacity — for example, minor scrapes, incidental undercarriage wear on typical terrain, or accidental contact that occurs despite reasonable care.
2. What It Does Not Cover
- Damage caused by operating outside the machine's rated capacity
- Damage from misuse, negligence, or operating while impaired
- Theft due to inadequate site security
- Damage to underground services not identified via Dial Before You Dig
- Damage caused by an unauthorised operator
3. Excess & Claims Process
Where damage is covered by the waiver, you may still be liable for a fixed excess, confirmed at the time of booking. Report any incident to us as soon as it happens, before continuing to operate the machine — call 0473 575 383 immediately.
4. Commercial Insurance Alternative
Commercial customers with their own plant and equipment insurance may provide a current certificate of currency instead of paying the daily waiver fee. The certificate must name the hired equipment or plant hire generally, and be current for the full hire period.
5. Your Responsibilities
Regardless of the waiver, you remain responsible for operating the machine safely, securing it on site outside of working hours, and notifying us immediately of any incident, malfunction or damage.
